AI-Based Face Recognition Attendance System with Mask Detection
I developed a desktop application using Python that automates student attendance through computer vision and artificial intelligence. The system first detects a human face in real time and verifies whether the student is wearing a mask. If the mask is removed, the application proceeds to identify the student by matching their face with a pre-stored facial embedding.
Each student’s record contains a unique facial embedding linked to their student ID and name, enabling accurate and fast recognition. Once verified, the system automatically marks attendance and stores the record securely. This solution improves accuracy, reduces manual effort, and ensures compliance with mask-wearing policies in educational environments.
